Buakao Inn is a great little spot in the heart of Thongsala not far from where the ferry lets you off. It s billed as comfort on the cheap--and trust me, it delivers. The bed in Room 5 was extremely comfortable, there s an excellent diner/cafe with tasty and relatively inexpensive breakfast just downstairs, and the staff are all extremely pleasant, particularly Mike! This is not a full service hotel by any means, but if you re like me (an independent, no-nonsense kind of traveller), Buakao Inn has just about everything you need. A word about the location: it s right in the heart of the island s main settlement, a fact that may or may not be good for you. I really enjoyed having access to all the conveniences (7-11, Phantip night market, numerous pharmacies, taxi stands, you name it)--and all the beaches and parties were just a songthaew ride away. Thanks for the excellent stay! One caveat: nearby Muay Thai boxing on Monday nights may keep you up but don t fret; they tend to shut down just after midnight. <span style="display:none">[R24 integr.ERR:escaping]</span>
