Apr 29, 2012 Miranda Chow Hotel itself is fine - although I booked a deluxe seaview room and was given a room overlooking the outdoor entertainment area where a live band plays until 12am. The rooms are not soundproofed so I requested to be moved to another room. The staff were very accommodating and upgraded me to one of the rooms in the villa complex across the road - its a smaller complex and much more quiet and private (the ground floor villas all have their own lap pool - privacy could be improved with either landscaping/plants.) Breakfast selection is okay. And I would certainly recommend the spa - staff are excellent. Wongamat Beach is alittle crowded and the water isn t overly clean esp when you compare it to Thailand other superb beaches on the other side of the gulf. Pattaya area wouldn t be my first choice for a Thai beach experience - many many other better beaches elsewhere. However one thing you cannot control is the behaviour of other guests. Wongamat seems to be a mecca for Russian tourists (most signage is in Thai and Russian) of all ages who were collectively rude to staff (yelling at local staff if they don t understand your ranting and carrying on isn t cool) and other guests (queue/waiting - why would you do that when you can just push in or just take things). Kids if you re in a public pool, it s a shared area don t dive bomb all the guests. And I know its the beach but when you re on the street, please cover up - the Thais are modest people, sunburnt human whales waddling down the streets isn t attractive for anyone! | |
